Day 4: Hopefully the last van

As always, we started the day with a coffee. This time we went to “Fiebre Coffee,” and I have to say, the coffee and the sunny spot were really great!

Right after that, we went to our first and last car viewing. The bus was really cool, but unfortunately: 1. There’s still quite a bit to do before we can get started with it, and 2. It has an oil leak somewhere – let’s see how that goes. Still, the bus was awesome, and the seller was really nice and friendly.

Next, we made our way to “Artem Coffee.” Unfortunately, the coffee was made with oat milk, which was actually pretty good, but if you’re expecting regular milk, well… In the meantime, we caught up on expenses from the last few days, canceled some cars, checked insurance, applied for tax numbers, installed a new SIM card, finished a blog post, and started categorizing our Bali expenses. Keep an eye out for a post on that soon!

For lunch, we went to a park in Fremantle and had a picnic there, under the watchful eyes of some crows. There were also some funny and beautiful birds we had never seen before. After that, we took a stroll by the sea, and in the evening, we went to “Nandos” for dinner. I had been there once in London, so I wanted to go again – just for the memories, since the food is so-so.

The plan was actually to go home a bit earlier and maybe watch a movie, but that didn’t quite work out. Besides, we’re both too tired anyway, haha.

Day 5: Tiiiiired!

After a restless night with many different dreams about broken buses, we first went out for a coffee after getting up – what else? We went to “Willing Coffee,” and it was really, really good coffee and a super nice place to sit (outside in the sun).

Then we met with the sellers of our favorite bus and a mechanic who conducted a pre purchase inspection. In the meantime, the four of us went back to Willing Coffee. It was really nice to chat a bit with others who are doing the same thing we plan to do.

Afterwards, we nervously went back to the bus. We were anxious because we hoped everything would be fine and we would finally have a bus, and the others were nervous because they wanted to get rid of the bus. Unfortunately, the bus still has a leak in the engine or something like that. I don’t think the mechanic knew exactly either, but oh well.
The bus is going back to the workshop on Friday for another check, and then we’ll see. We’ve actually already decided, unless the repair costs are astronomical, then it will probably be something else.

After that, we went back home, where we had yogurt with fruit and also chopped vegetables for our lunch snack. We enjoyed the snack by the sea in Rockingham and then went for a short walk. The water is so incredibly clear and blue – we’ve never seen anything like it before.

We quickly grabbed a coffee at “Bayside Barista” before we continued on. Somehow, all coffee shops close at 2:00 PM or at the latest by 2:30 PM – strange for us and a bit early.

For dinner, we got fish and chips from “Piscari Fish and Chips” and ate them in the park while watching the skaters.

Now, we’re lying in bed with full bellies, so full that we can’t move. So, good night!

Day 6: Finally on the Move Again

The first (and only) item on our to-do list today was to bring the surfboards to our new accommodation so that we wouldn’t have to carry so much on Friday.

Then we returned our rental car and finally had our first coffee of the day: two flat whites and a morning bun at “Offshoot.” It was really nice to sit there again. The coffee was decent, but not outstanding.

Next, we went straight to lunch. We had Udon noodle soup at “Hifumiya Udon Noodle House,” which was really good and hearty. After that, we had more coffee at “Bench Espresso” while doing a bit of knitting. Unfortunately, the coffee wasn’t quite our cup of tea.

In the afternoon, we wandered all around Perth until we reached Kings Park, where we took another big stroll. Apparently, the park is the botanical garden, or the botanical garden is in the park – not quite sure. In any case, we were in the botanical garden and saw many plants and flowers.

Then we took the bus back to the CBD (Central Business District), and the bus driver was so kind; she let us ride for free because she said it was only a short distance – that was nice of her.

For dinner, we went to “Simple Italian” and had pizza and vegetables. Again, it was decent but doesn’t really need to be repeated.

We then took the train back to our accommodation, and now we’ll just sort through pictures for the post, and then knit, read, brush our teeth, and sleep!
